LIBRARY

An image from the Bidoun Library at the Serpentine Gallery in London, from last summer. I still love the spacial and sort of trompe l'oeil effects of this arrangement.

NINA SAUNDERS

Danish sculptor Nina Saunders, who lives and works in London, makes insane melting furniture. In the top image, she has teamed with shoemaker Tracey Neuls and textile manufacturer Sanderson in honor of Sanderson's 150th anniversary, which also happens to coincide with London fashion week. The installation, titled "Most Curious", is presented in Tracey's store TN29 at 29 Marylebone Lane, and runs through 30th June 2010. The black melting armchair is from Nina's website.

STOCKHOLM DESIGN WEEK

Just returned home from Stockholm where I participated in Design Week with fellow artist & designer Melissa Gamwell as part of Designboom Mart. Melissa had her fabulous biography vase on offer, while I had hand screen printed organic cotton tote bags and my new book of drawings, both available from New Garde, for sale. Everyone we met was really awesome and we can't wait to go back to sthlm asap.

AN EVENING WITH DUKE PRESS

Last night at Cafe Oto in Dalston, the Duke Press launch party/exhibition. Great little collection of what sort of blurs the line between book and zine. Handbound, very nice. Photo from Duke Press' flickr page.

AN EVENING OF SWISS DESIGN

This evening the Helvetic Centre held an event at Cafe OTO in Dalston called "The Most Beautiful Swiss Books 2008 in London". The event included a panel discussion with four London-based designers, which started as a discussion on Swiss design and quickly became a heated debate on the merits and downfalls of design competitions.
