STYLE

A dreamy Hamburg apartment. Herringbone wood floors seem to be ubiquitous in Germany, I wish they were ubiquitous here, too.

MODERN

DETAIL

SECA Award winner Ruth Laskey's work of finely detailed woven pieces are currently on display at the SFMOMA. On Thursday for the SECA reception, I also stopped by the Richard Serra retrospective happening on the (I think) 4th floor. Apparently Richard Serra has a reputation for being a hard-ass. Maybe he's just impatient?

DINNER AT JULIE'S

Recently my friend Julie Elliott had a few of us to her San Francisco apartment for dinner. The majority of her walls are painted a color called "Baritone", adding emphasis to any light, including the view. So beautiful. Filed under: LOVE.

TEXTURE

Indigo dyed fabric duplexed onto card / gold embossed business cards from Small Trade Co.

POST TITLE

Recently I happened on this Jackson Pollack exhibition catalogue at the Smithsonian Archive. Interesting how the cover looks like a title page. Mixed with the circus/kabel type treatment, altogether it's pretty great. The functional aesthetic of the title page is underestimated, I think.

LIBRARY

An image from the Bidoun Library at the Serpentine Gallery in London, from last summer. I still love the spacial and sort of trompe l'oeil effects of this arrangement.

MOTIF

Adding motif to something unusual makes the motif feel unusual. Chevron stripes on pony hair desert boots from 80/20, and on a hand-made mug from Matthew Hyleck.

STILLS

Interesting fashion editoral layouts from the movie Bill Cunningham New York. I wish I could remember what magazine they were looking at.

REVIEW

WRAPPED

Artist monograph designed by M/M (Paris) for Koo Jeong-A. I like how it's fully wrapped with a photograph of forest -- something hidden and exposed all at once. Even the name wraps it up.
