DEAR WINTER

Although it's not technically winter yet, I'm already wishing it were spring. I took this picture in Victoria Park early last May. Sometime I'd like a garden full of Lilac.

Digging this work by Bruno Fazzolari. Apparently his upcoming exhibition will feature an installation of four paintings on linen, as well as a perfume. Wish I were in SF so I could go. Maybe you can go for me. Jancar Jones is one of the best galleries in the city.

BOXES

Recently I had the pleasure of building two clamshell boxes for a project. The first clamshell boxes I made were probably 10 years ago with Dr. Elsi Vassdal Ellis, who teaches book arts at WWU. They're sort of a pain to make, requiring a lot of steps and waiting while the glue dries, but deeply satisfying once finished.

NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM

Pitt-Rivers Museum in Oxford is directly behind and connected to the Oxford Museum of Natural History (see: pyrite). Here's a poster I designed commemorating a recent visit.

PYRITE

Pyrite -- cheerful and warm, I keep a piece on my desk and pick it up or look at it often. My friend Zenaida, who teaches classes at Paxton Gate in San Francisco, gave me the piece pictured here. Recently I went to the Oxford University Museum of Natural History where visitors are encouraged to touch the near boulder of pyrite on display, which seems to have become buffed along the top from people laying their hands on it, like some kind of healing stone. While there, an elderly woman and I chatted briefly and agreed, pyrite's got it.

AUTUMN

Yesterday was sunny and crisp and so I took a break just before sundown to stroll through Victoria Park. I almost feel the photo of the canal could be a cheesy calendar photo, I've included it because it seems kind of insane for a simple snapshot. Wish you were here!
